ਤੀਰਥੰਕਰ ਉਸ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਰਵ-ਉੱਚ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਤੇ ਪੁਜਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਧਰਮ ਦਾ ਪਰਚਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਰਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।<ref name="flugel">Flügel, P. (2010). The Jaina Cult of Relic Stūpas.
