'''ਪਿਠਵਰਤੀ ਗਾਇਕ''' ਉਹ ਗਾਇਕ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਫ਼ਿਲਮਾਂ ਵਿਚਵਿੱਚ ਗੀਤ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਲਈ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਗੀਤ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਕਰਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਿਠਵਰਤੀ ਗਾਇਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਊਂਡਟ੍ਰੈਕਸ ਵਿਚਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਕਰਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਿਲਮੀ ਅਦਾਕਾਰ ( ਔਰਤ/ਮਰਦ) ਲਿੱਪ ਸਾਇਨ (ਭਾਵ ਕਿਸੇ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਕੀਤੀ ਗੱਲ ਜਾਂ ਗੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੂਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਲਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਗੀਤ/ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਗਾਉਣ ਜਾਂ ਬੋਲਣ ਦੀ ਨਕਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਦਾਕਾਰ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਭਾਅ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ) ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੈਮਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਨਿਭਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਹਦਕਿ ਉਹ ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਾ ਰਹੇ। ਅਸਲ ਗਾਇਕ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਦੇ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
