ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਜਲ-ਨਕਸ਼ਾਕਸ਼ੀ ਸੰਗਠਨ (IHO) ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਨ ''Limits of Oceans and Seas'' (ਲਿਮਿਟਜ਼ ਆਫ਼ ਓਸ਼ਨਜ਼ ਐਂਡ ਸੀਜ਼) ਦੀ ਤੀਜੀ ਜਿਲਦ ਦੇ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਹਿੰਦ ਮਹਾਂਸਾਗਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੱਦਾਂ (ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਛੁੱਟ) ਹੇਠ ਲਿਖੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹਨ:<ref name="iho-ohi.net"/>
