ਓਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਅਫਲਾਜ ਸਿੰਚਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ 500 ਈਸਵੀ ਤੋਂ ਦਾਖਿਲਿਆਹ, ਸ਼ਰਕੀਆਹ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਤੀਨਾਹ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਚੀਨ ਜਲ ਚੈਨਲ ਹਨ। ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ, ਉਹ ਪਰਸ਼ੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਨਾਤ ਜਾਂ ਕਰੀਜ ਨਾਮਕ ਇੱਕ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ 5000 ਸਾਲ ਪੁਰਾਣੀ ਸਿੰਚਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।[1]

"ਅਫਲਾਜ" "ਫਲਾਜ" ਦਾ ਬਹੁਵਚਨ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਅਰਬੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ "ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡਿਆ" ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਸਿੰਚਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਿਵਾਸੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਵੰਡਿਆ; ਇਹ ਸਰੋਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਘਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਫਸਲੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਗੂਰੁਤਾ ਆਕਰਸ਼ਨ ਨਾਲ ਵਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੰਪਲੈਕਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਵਾਚਟਾਵਰ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਸਨ, ਪਰ ਮਸਜਿਦ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਇਮਾਰਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਸਨ।[2]
2006 ਵਿੱਚ, ਓਮਾਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੰਜ ਅਫਲਾਜ ਸਿੰਚਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਵਿਰਾਸਤੀ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਯੂਨੈਸਕੋ ਸੂਚੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਕਿ ਫਲਾਜ ਅਲ-ਖਤੇਮੇਨ, ਫਲਾਜ ਅਲ-ਮਲਕੀ, ਫਲਾਜ ਦਰਿਸ, ਫਲਾਜ ਅਲ-ਮਯਾਸਰ ਅਤੇ ਫਲਾਜ ਅਲ-ਜੈਲਾ ਸਨ।[3]
