ਗਿਲਬਰਟ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਲੀਵਾਨ (ਅੰਗ੍ਰੇਜ਼ੀ: Gilbert and Sullivan) ਨਾਟਕਕਾਰ ਡਬਲਯੂ. ਐਸ. ਗਿਲਬਰਟ (1836-1911) ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗੀਤਕਾਰ ਆਰਥਰ ਸੁਲੀਵਨ (1842–1900) ਦੀ ਵਿਕਟੋਰੀਅਨ-ਯੁੱਗ ਦੀ ਨਾਟਕ ਸਾਂਝੇਦਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਚੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਕੇਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਦੋ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ 1871 ਅਤੇ 1896 ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਚੌਦਾਂ ਕਾਮਿਕ ਓਪੇਰਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ "ਐਚ.ਐਮ.ਐੱਸ. ਪੀਨਾਫੌਰ", "ਦਿ ਪਾਇਰੇਟਸ ਆਫ਼ ਪੇਨਜ਼ੈਂਸ" ਅਤੇ "ਮਿਕੈਡੋ" ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਹਨ।[1]

ਗਿਲਬਰਟ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਓਪਰੇਸਾਂ ਲਈ ਲਿਬਰੇਟੀ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੀ, ਨੇ ਕਲਪਨਾਤਮਕ "ਟੌਪਸੀ-ਟਰਵੀ" ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿਥੇ ਹਰ ਬੇਤੁਕੀ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਤਰਕਪੂਰਨ ਸਿੱਟੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ — ਪਰਾਈਆਂ ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਹਾਕਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੂਹਣੀਆਂ ਰਗੜਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਫਲਰਟ ਕਰਨਾ ਇੱਕ ਰਾਜਧਾਨੀ ਦਾ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਹੈ, ਗੋਂਡੋਲਿਅਰਸ ਰਾਜਤੰਤਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰੀ ਡਾਕੂ ਉਭਰਦੇ ਹਨ।[2] ਨੇਕ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਭਟਕ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਸਿਲਿਵਨ, ਛੇ ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਗਿਲਬਰਟ ਦੇ ਜੂਨੀਅਰ, ਨੇ ਸੰਗੀਤ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਯਾਦਗਾਰੀ ਧੁਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜੋ ਹਾਸੇ ਅਤੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।[3][4]

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਓਪੇਰਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਸਥਾਈ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ

ਲੈ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੰਗ੍ਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਬੋਲਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਕਸਰ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।[5][6] ਗਿਲਬਰਟ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਲੀਵਾਨ ਨੇ ਸਮਗਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਵੀਨਤਾਵਾਂ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ 20 ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਗੀਤਕ ਥੀਏਟਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਧੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਤ ਕੀਤਾ।[7] ਓਪੇਰਾ ਨੇ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਵਚਨ, ਸਾਹਿਤ, ਫਿਲਮ ਅਤੇ ਟੈਲੀਵਿਜ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਯੋਜਿਸਟ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਪੈਰੋਡ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਪੇਸਟ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਨਿਰਮਾਤਾ ਰਿਚਰਡ ਡੀ ਓਲੀ ਕਾਰਟੇ ਗਿਲਬਰਟ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਲੀਵਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਾਇਆ।[8] ਉਸਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ (ਜੋ ਕਿ ਸਵੋਏ ਓਪਰੇਸ ਵਜੋਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ 1881 ਵਿੱਚ ਸੇਵੋਏ ਥੀਏਟਰ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਡੌਯਲੀ ਕਾਰਟ ਓਪੇਰਾ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਸਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੱਕ ਗਿਲਬਰਟ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਲੀਵਾਨ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਸੇਵੋਏ ਓਪੇਰਾਸ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੇ ਨੰਬਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਪਾਰਕ ਰਿਕਾਰਡਿੰਗ 1898 ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਈ।[10] 1917 ਵਿੱਚ ਗ੍ਰਾਮੋਫੋਨ ਕੰਪਨੀ (ਐਚਐਮਵੀ) ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੰਪੂਰਨ ਗਿਲਬਰਟ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਲੀਵਾਨ ਓਪੇਰਾ, ਦਿ ਮਕਾਡੋ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਐਲਬਮ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਅੱਠ ਹੋਰ ਰਿਕਾਰਡਿੰਗਾਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ।[11] ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਓਪੇਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਲੈਕਟ੍ਰਿਕਲ ਰਿਕਾਰਡਿੰਗਜ਼ ਐਚਐਮਵੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਕਟਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ, 1920 ਦੇ ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ, ਰੂਪਟ ਡੀ ਓਯਲੀ ਕਾਰਟੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ।[12] ਡੀ ਓਯਲੀ ਕਾਰਟੇ ਓਪੇਰਾ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਨੇ 1979 ਤਕ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਰਿਕਾਰਡਿੰਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਕਰਨਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਦਹਾਕਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਓਪੇਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਰਿਕਾਰਡਿੰਗਾਂ ਸੀਡੀ ਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।[13] 1988 ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਦੇ ਮੁੜ ਸੁਰਜੀਤੀ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਇਸ ਨੇ ਸੱਤ ਓਪੇਰਾ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਕੀਤੇ।[14]

ਓਪੇਰਾਜ਼ ਦੇ ਕਾਪੀਰਾਈਟਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਆਦ ਖਤਮ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਦੁਨੀਆ ਭਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਈ ਕੰਪਨੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਓਪੇਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਆਡੀਓ ਅਤੇ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਰਿਕਾਰਡਿੰਗ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ।[14][15] 1966 ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ 1980 ਵਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ, ਬੀਬੀਸੀ ਰੇਡੀਓ ਨੇ ਤੇਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗਿਲਬਰਟ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਲੀਵਾਨ ਓਪੇਰਾ ਦੇ ਸੰਪੂਰਨ ਚੱਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਵਾਦ ਨਾਲ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ।[16] 1950 ਅਤੇ 60 ਦੇ ਦਹਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰ ਮੈਲਕਮ ਸਾਰਜੈਂਟ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਚਲਾਏ ਗਏ ਓਪਰੇਟਿਕ ਗਾਇਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਐਡ ਹੌਕ ਕੈਸਟਾਂ[17] ਅਤੇ 1990 ਦੇ ਦਹਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰ ਚਾਰਲਸ ਮੈਕਰਾਰਸ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਸੇਵੋਏ ਓਪੇਰਾ ਦੇ ਆਡੀਓ ਸੈਟ ਬਣਾਏ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ 1980 ਦੇ ਦਹਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਲੈਗਜ਼ੈਂਡਰ ਫਾਰਿਸ ਨੇ ਗਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਰਿਕਾਰਡਿੰਗਾਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਓਪੇਰਾ (ਆਖਰੀ ਦੋ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ੋਅ-ਬਿਜ਼ਨਸ ਸਿਤਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਪੇਸ਼ੇਵਰ ਗਾਇਕ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ।[18] ਦਿ ਪਾਇਰੇਟਸ ਆਫ ਪੇਂਜੈਂਸ ਦਾ ਜੋਸਫ਼ ਪੈੱਪ ਦਾ ਬ੍ਰੌਡਵੇ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ 1981 ਵਿੱਚ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।[19][20] 1994 ਤੋਂ, ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਗਿਲਬਰਟ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਲੀਵਾਨ ਫੈਸਟੀਵਲ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਈ ਪੇਸ਼ੇਵਰ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੁਕੀਨ ਸੀਡੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ।[21] ਓਹੀਓ ਲਾਈਟ ਓਪੇਰਾ ਨੇ 21 ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਓਪੇਰਾ ਰਿਕਾਰਡ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ।[22]
