ਨੋਰਾ ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ
ਨੋਰਾ ਕਲੀਅਰਮੈਨ ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ (8 ਨਵੰਬਰ, 1946 – 26 ਜਨਵਰੀ, 2022) ਇੱਕ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਗਿਆਨੀ, ਮਯਾਨਿਸਟ, ਅਤੇ ਔਸਟਿਨ ਵਿਖੇ ਟੈਕਸਾਸ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੱਲਾਸ ਟੀਏਸੀਏ ਸ਼ਤਾਬਦੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਸੀ।[1] ਉਸਦੀ ਖੋਜ ਮਾਇਆ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਆਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਕਾਲੀ ਮਯਾ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ 'ਤੇ ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਸੀ।[2][3]

ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ ਨੇ 1967 ਵਿੱਚ ਬ੍ਰਾਇਨ ਮਾਵਰ ਕਾਲਜ ਤੋਂ ਬੀਏ ਅਤੇ 1975 ਵਿੱਚ ਫਲੋਰੀਡਾ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਐਮਏ ਅਤੇ ਪੀਐਚ.ਡੀ.[4] ਉੱਥੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਿਆਂ, ਉਸਨੇ ਇਕਸਿਮਚੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਅਤੇ ਫੀਲਡ ਵਿਜ਼ਿਟ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿੰਡਾ ਸ਼ੈਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਕੋਲਾਈ ਗਰੂਬ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਏ।[5]
2001 ਵਿੱਚ ਆਸਟਿਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਟੈਕਸਾਸ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਅਹੁਦਾ ਲੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਉਹ ਲਾਤੀਨੀ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਦੇ ਸਵਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੇਂਦਰ (CILLA) ਦੀ ਸੰਸਥਾਪਕ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਬਣ ਗਈ।[6][7] ਟੈਕਸਾਸ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ ਦੇ ਮਯਾਨ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਦੀ ਮੇਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।[8]
ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ ਦੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਤਜ਼ਰਬਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਸੀਸਿਪੀ ਸਟੇਟ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਇਓਵਾ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਧਿਆਪਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਪਦਵੀਆਂ, ਅਤੇ 100 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਮਯਾਨਿਸਟਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਦੇਣਾ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਪੋਸਟ-ਸੈਕੰਡਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਹਨ।[4]
ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ ਵਿੱਚ 26 ਜਨਵਰੀ 2022 ਨੂੰ 75 ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਸੀ[9]
