4 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 1842 ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਅਜਾਇਬ ਘਰ ਦੀ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੇ ਲਲਿਤ ਕਲਾਵਾਂ ਅਜਾਇਬ-ਘਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਹੈੱਡਕੁਆਟਰ ਪਲਾਸੀਓ ਦੇ ਸਾਂਤਾ ਕਰੂਸ ਸੀ। 29 ਅਪਰੈਲ 1933 ਨੂੰ ਇਹਨੂੰ ਸਾਨ ਗ੍ਰੇਗੋਰਿਓ ਕਾਲਜ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ।

ਇਸ ਅਜਾਇਬ-ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ 13ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਤੋਂ 19ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਲਾਕ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ।
