ਮਾਇਆ ਜੈਯਾਪਾਲ

ਮਾਇਆ ਜੈਯਾਪਾਲ (ਅੰਗ੍ਰੇਜ਼ੀ: Maya Jayapal) ਇੱਕ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕਾਰ, ਲੇਖਕ, ਕਾਲਮਨਵੀਸ, ਅਧਿਆਪਕ, ਅਤੇ ਸਲਾਹਕਾਰ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਮਿਲਾ ਜੈਪਾਲ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਹੈ, ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਨਿਧੀ ਸਭਾ ਲਈ ਚੁਣੀ ਗਈ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਭਾਰਤੀ-ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਔਰਤ ਹੈ।[1][2]

ਜੈਪਾਲ ਪਲੱਕੜ, ਕੇਰਲਾ, ਭਾਰਤ ਤੋਂ ਹੈ।[3] ਉਹ 1955 ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਲਈ ਚੇਨਈ ਤੋਂ ਬੈਂਗਲੁਰੂ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ,[4][5] ਅਤੇ ਮਾਊਂਟ ਕਾਰਮਲ ਕਾਲਜ, ਬੰਗਲੌਰ ਤੋਂ ਗ੍ਰੈਜੂਏਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤੀ।[6] ਐਮ ਪੀ ਜੈਪਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ,[7][8] ਉਹ 11 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਲਈ ਜਕਾਰਤਾ, ਇੰਡੋਨੇਸ਼ੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ 13 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਲਈ ਸਿੰਗਾਪੁਰ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਦਹਾਕੇ ਤੱਕ ਬੰਗਲੁਰੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹੀ।[9] ਉਸਦੀ ਧੀ ਪ੍ਰਮਿਲਾ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਚੇਨਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ-ਪੋਸ਼ਣ ਬੰਗਲੁਰੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਭਾਰਤ ਤੋਂ ਇੰਡੋਨੇਸ਼ੀਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪੰਜ ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਸੀ। 1993 ਤੋਂ, ਜੈਪਾਲ ਬੈਂਗਲੁਰੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
