Hi, this is Sukh and it's nice to see you contributing! I've spent a while getting the UI translation completed (I didn't actually do it myself, but lots of it needed changing and updating) and also helped in getting the Punjabi Wikipedia started.

I'm an administrator here and my Punjabi isn't all that brilliant (I'm an 'NRI' :D) but I'd still like to get the Wiki up and running. Before any major changes and pages are added we need to do simple stuff like make basic categories, template and stubs in Punjabi. We also need to add some getting started guides and so on.

Also please don't add masses of Gurbani text just yet because the encoding used on GurbaniFiles.org is experimental. Unicode does not currently support many of the features of archaic Gurmukhi and the text on Dr Thind's web site uses an experimental encoding. Thus if we add text now it will cause problems in time to come. I've recently submitted a document to the Unicode Consortium which should iron out these issues in the coming weeks, but until then we should refrain from using anything experimental.

As a general rule if the text uses features of modern Gurmukhi (paireen rara, vava, haha and half-yaiyya) and ek onkar/double dandi then it should be fine. However if it uses stuff like Paireen Yaiyya and Udaat (looks like Halant), that might be a problem.

Hi. I've seen your posting on my talk page. Sorry for the delay in replying, I've just finished a week's worth of exams and will now have some free time. In regards to your comment "I have noticed that when you seach for an article, the system does not offer to start a new article page- but goes to a new Wikipedia:Searching page" - I have not noticed this problem?

I think the first task we need to do is broadly set up categories in some sort of hierarchy and make relevant stub pages. Then we can get people to contribute more. Have you any ideas as to how to get this off the ground? Sukh ੨੩:੩੭, ੨੭ ਮਈ ੨੦੦੫ (UTC)
