ਜੂਨ 1938 ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਰਾਂਸੀਸੀ ਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸੁਜ਼ਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਦਾ ਕੈਂਸਰ ਹੈ। ਉਸਤੋਂਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਤਿੰਨ ਹਫਤੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਇਸਦੀ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ 4 ਜੁਲਾਈ 1938 ਨੂੰ ਇਸਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਇਸਨੂੰ ਪੈਰਿਸ ਦੇ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕ ਸੰਤ ਊਏਨ ਕਬਰਿਸਤਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਫ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।
