ਇਸ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਨੁੰ ਇਕ ਜਰੂਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣੂ ਕਰਵਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਪਿਛਲੀ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਬੈਠਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀ ਉੱਪਰ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਅਤੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਮਗੱਰੀ ਦੀ ਗੁਣਵੱਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕੁਝ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਲਈ ਗੱਲ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵਲੋਂ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੁੰਗਾਰਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਕਾਰਜ ਦੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀ ਉੱਪਰ ਬੜੇ ਲੰਮੇਂ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਗੱਲ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਏਨੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਤੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੀ ਅਣਹੋਂਦ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਸ ਉੱਪਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਉਂਤ ਮੁਤਾਬਿਕ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਹੋ ਪਾ ਰਿਹਾ। ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮੈਟਾ ਉੱਪਰ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ। ਪਾਲਿਸੀ ਟੂਲਕਿਟ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਲਈ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਲੋੜ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੋਰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਵਿਕੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨੁਮਾਇਦਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਸਲਾਹ-ਮਸ਼ਵਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਲਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾਮੰਦੀ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਚਾਰ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੇ ਵਕਫ਼ੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਇਹ ਟੂਲਕਿਟ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਅਸੀਂ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀ ਉੱਪਰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੇਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਲਈ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਉਲੀਕ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਇਸ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਮੈਟਾ ਉੱਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਦੀ ਅਰਜੀ ਦੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਇਸ ਲਿੰਕ ਉੱਪਰ ਕਲਿੱਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸੁਝਾਅ, ਸਵਾਲਾਂ ਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਲਈ ਸੱਥ ਉੱਪਰ ਇਹ ਪੋਸਟ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਦਾ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸਫੇ ਦੇ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਹੇਠਾਂ "Endorsements" ਦੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਦਸਤਖਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ। ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੁੰਗਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਤੀਬਰ ਉਡੀਕ ਰਹੇਗੀ।Gaurav Jhammat (ਗੱਲ-ਬਾਤ) 15:38, 26 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 2021 (UTC)[ਜਵਾਬ]

ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਠੀਕ ਹੋਵੋਗੇ। ਗੌਰਵ ਦੀ ਤਬੀਅਤ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਮਹੀਨਾਵਾਰ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਪਾਈ। ਸੋ ਇਸ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਵੀ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ 14 ਨਵੰਬਰ ਦਿਨ ਐਤਵਾਰ ਸ਼ਾਮ 5 ਤੋਂ 6 ਨੂੰ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਹੈ। ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ:

The Board of Trustees is preparing a call for feedback about the upcoming Board Elections, from January 7 - February 10, 2022.

While details will be finalized the week before the call, we have confirmed at least two questions that will be asked during this call for feedback:

  • What is the best way to ensure fair representation of emerging communities among the Board?
  • What involvement should candidates have during the election?

While additional questions may be added, the Movement Strategy and Governance team wants to provide time for community members and affiliates to consider and prepare ideas on the confirmed questions before the call opens. We apologize for not having a complete list of questions at this time. The list of questions should only grow by one or two questions. The intention is to not overwhelm the community with requests, but provide notice and welcome feedback on these important questions.

The Call for Feedback: Board of Trustees elections is now open and will close on 16 February 2022.

With this Call for Feedback, the Movement Strategy and Governance team is taking a different approach. This approach incorporates community feedback from 2021. Instead of leading with proposals, the Call is framed around key questions from the Board of Trustees. The key questions came from the feedback about the 2021 Board of Trustees election. The intention is to inspire collective conversation and collaborative proposal development about these key questions.

There are two confirmed questions that will be asked during this Call for Feedback:

  1. What is the best way to ensure more diverse representation among elected candidates? The Board of Trustees noted the importance of selecting candidates who represent the full diversity of the Wikimedia movement. The current processes have favored volunteers from North America and Europe.
  2. What are the expectations for the candidates during the election? Board candidates have traditionally completed applications and answered community questions. How can an election provide appropriate insight into candidates while also appreciating candidates’ status as volunteers?

There is one additional question that may be presented during the Call about selection processes. This question is still under discussion, but the Board wanted to give insight into the confirmed questions as soon as possible. Hopefully if an additional question is going to be asked, it will be ready during the first week of the Call for Feedback.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Call for Feedback: Board of Trustees elections so far. The Movement Strategy and Governance team has announced the last key question:

How should affiliates participate in elections?

Affiliates are an important part of the Wikimedia movement. Two seats of the Board of Trustees due to be filled this year were filled in 2019 through the Affiliate-selected Board seats process. A change in the Bylaws removed the distinction between community and affiliate seats. This leaves the important question: How should affiliates be involved in the selection of new seats?

The question is broad in the sense that the answers may refer not just to the two seats mentioned, but also to other, Community- and Affiliate-selected seats. The Board is hoping to find an approach that will both engage the affiliates and give them actual agency, and also optimize the outcomes in terms of selecting people with top skills, experience, diversity, and wide community’s support.

The Board of Trustees is seeking feedback about this question especially, although not solely, from the affiliate community. Everyone is invited to share proposals and join the conversation in the Call for Feedback channels. In addition to collecting online feedback, the Movement Strategy and Governance team will organize several video calls with affiliate members to collect feedback. These calls will be at different times and include Trustees.

Due to the late addition of this third question, the Call will be extended until 16 February.

Welcome to the fifth issue of Movement Strategy and Governance News (formerly known as Universal Code of Conduct News)! This revamped newsletter distributes relevant news and events about the Movement Charter, Universal Code of Conduct, Movement Strategy Implementation grants, Board elections and other relevant MSG topics.

This Newsletter will be distributed quarterly, while more frequent Updates will also be delivered weekly or bi-weekly to subscribers. Please remember to subscribe here if you would like to receive these updates.

Wikimedia Wikimeet India 2022 Postponed ਸੋਧੋ

Dear Wikimedians,

We want to give you an update related to Wikimedia Wikimeet India 2022. Wikimedia Wikimeet India 2022 (or WMWM2022) was to be conducted from 18 to 20 February 2022 and is postponed now.

Currently, we are seeing a new wave of the pandemic that is affecting many people around. Although WMWM is an online event, it has multiple preparation components such as submission, registration, RFC etc which require community involvement.

We feel this may not be the best time for extensive community engagement. We have also received similar requests from Wikimedians around us. Following this observation, please note that we are postponing the event, and the new dates will be informed on the mailing list and on the event page. Although the main WMWM is postponed, we may conduct a couple of brief calls/meets (similar to the Stay safe, stay connected call) on the mentioned date, if things go well.

[Announcement] Leadership Development Task Force ਸੋਧੋ

Dear community members,

The Invest in Skill and Leadership Development Movement Strategy recommendation indicates that our movement needs a globally coordinated effort to succeed in leadership development.

The Community Development team is supporting the creation of a global and community-driven m:Leadership Development Task Force (Purpose & Structure). The purpose of the task force is to advise leadership development work.

The team seeks community feedback on what could be the responsibilities of the task force. Also, if any community member wishes to be a part of the 12-member task force, kindly reach out to us. The feedback period is until 25 February 2022.

International Mother Language Day 2022 edit-a-thon ਸੋਧੋ

Dear Wikimedians,

CIS-A2K announced International Mother Language Day mini edit-a-thon which is going to take place on 19 & 20 February 2022. The motive of conducting this edit-a-thon is to celebrate International Mother Language Day.

This time we will celebrate the day by creating & developing articles on local Wikimedia projects, such as proofreading the content on Wikisource, items that need to be created on Wikidata [edit Labels & Descriptions], some language-related content must be uploaded on Wikimedia Commons and so on. It will be a two-days long edit-a-thon to increase content about languages or related to languages. Anyone can participate in this event and users can add their names to the given link. Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) Enforcement Guidelines & Ratification Vote ਸੋਧੋ

In brief: the revised Enforcement Guidelines have been published. Voting to ratify the guidelines will happen from 7 March to 21 March 2022. Community members can participate in the discussion with the UCoC project team and drafting committee members on 25 February (12:00 UTC) and 4 March (15:00 UTC). Please sign-up.

Details:

The m:Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) provides a baseline of acceptable behavior for the entire Wikimedia movement. The UCoC and the Enforcement Guidelines were written by volunteer-staff drafting committees following community consultations. The revised guidelines were published 24 January 2022.

What’s next?

#1 Community Conversations

To help to understand the guidelines, the Movement Strategy and Governance (MSG) team will host conversations with the UCoC project team and drafting committee members on 25 February (12:00 UTC) and 4 March (15:00 UTC). Please sign-up.

Comments about the guidelines can be shared on the Enforcement Guidelines talk page. You can comment in any language.

#2 Ratification Voting

The Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees released a statement on the ratification process where eligible voters can support or oppose the adoption of the enforcement guidelines through vote. Wikimedians are invited to translate and share important information.

A SecurePoll vote is scheduled from 7 March to 21 March 2022.

Eligible voters are invited to answer a poll question and share comments. Voters will be asked if they support the enforcement of the UCoC based on the proposed guidelines.

The Call for Feedback: Board of Trustees elections is now closed. This Call ran from 10 January and closed on 16 February 2022. The Call focused on three key questions and received broad discussion on Meta-wiki, during meetings with affiliates, and in various community conversations. The community and affiliates provided many proposals and discussion points. The reports are on Meta-wiki.

This information will be shared with the Board of Trustees and Elections Committee so they can make informed decisions about the upcoming Board of Trustees election. The Board of Trustees will then follow with an announcement after they have discussed the information.

Greetings for the Holi festival! CIS-A2K is glad to announce a campaign cum photography contest, Pune Nadi Darshan 2022, organised jointly by Rotary Water Olympiad and CIS-A2K on the occasion of ‘World Water Week’. This is a pilot campaign to document the rivers in the Pune district on Wikimedia Commons. The campaign period is from 16 March to 16 April 2022.


Under this campaign, participants are expected to click and upload the photos of rivers in the Pune district on the following topics -

The ratification voting process for the revised enforcement guidelines of the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC) came to a close on 21 March 2022. The scrutinizing group is now reviewing the vote for accuracy, so please allow up to two weeks for them to finish their work.

Announcing Indic Hackathon 2022 and Scholarship Applications ਸੋਧੋ

Dear Wikimedians, we are happy to announce that the Indic MediaWiki Developers User Group will be organizing Indic Hackathon 2022, a regional event as part of the main Wikimedia Hackathon 2022 taking place in a hybrid mode during 20-22 May 2022. The event will take place in Hyderabad. The regional event will be in-person with support for virtual participation. As it is with any hackathon, the event’s program will be semi-structured i.e. while we will have some sessions in sync with the main hackathon event, the rest of the time will be upto participants’ interest on what issues they are interested to work on. The event page can be seen on this page.

In this regard, we would like to invite community members who would like to attend in-person to fill out a form for scholarship application by 17 April, which is available on the event page. Please note that the hackathon won’t be focusing on training of new skills, and it is expected that applications have some experience/knowledge contributing to technical areas of the Wikimedia movement. ਸਤਸ੍ਰੀਅਕਾਲ ਜੀ, ਇਸ ਸਾਲ Wikimedia Summit ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਤੰਬਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਣ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਸੰਸਾਰ ਭਰ ਤੋਂ Affiliates ਇਸ ਲਈ apply ਕਰਨਗੇ। ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਦੀ summit ਵਿੱਚ Movement Strategy 2030 ਦੀ implementation ਅਤੇ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੇ Movement charter ਦੇ drafting process ‘ਤੇ ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਇਹ ਇਵੇਂਟ 9-11 ਸੰਤਬਰ ਤੱਕ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਪਲਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ process ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ 4 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ ਤੋਂ 17 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ ਤੱਕ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਜਾਰਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਵੀ ਸਾਥੀ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ user group ਲਈ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਲ ‘ਚ ਕੀਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਮ ਦਾ ਸੰਖੇਪ ‘ਚ ਬਿਓਰਾ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਲਿਆਉਣ। ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਗਲੇ 2 ਜਾਂ 3 ਦਿਨ ‘ਚ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦ ਕਰੋ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਇਸ ‘ਤੇ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ ਅਤੇ 15 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ ਤੱਕ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ‘ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਧੰਨਵਾਦ Nitesh Gill (ਗੱਲ-ਬਾਤ) 11:41, 11 ਅਪਰੈਲ 2022 (UTC)[ਜਵਾਬ]

  • All UG members have contributed to the best of their knowledge and abilities. Also, individual contribution is different from the initiatives taken for the development of the affiliate. So, we must vigilantly observe the contribution one has made to keep the affiliate engaged in global conversations, governance practices, process review, collaborations and all important discussions that impact the members of the affiliate.

We must also review what candidates have to offer as an expectation affiliate can have from them after the Summit like shared learning, regular updates on strategic work, active collaborations, etc. While reviewing the submissions, we must prioritize affiliate engagement over individual engagement irrespective of their term of association. ਮੈਂ ਜਗਸੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ Wikimedia Summit 2022 ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। 2020 ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਵਿਡ ਲਾਕਡਾਊਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਆਫ਼ਲਾਈਨ ਇਵੈਂਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਵਾ ਪਾਏ ਅਤੇ 2021 ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਫ਼ਾਊਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਫ਼ਲਾਈਨ ਇਵੈਂਟ ਕਰਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੀ ਪਾਬੰਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ, ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਆਫ਼ਲਾਈਨ ਇਵੈਂਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਵਾ ਪਾਇਆ। ਲਾਕਡਾਊਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਸਕੂਲ ਵਿੱਚ WIR ਵਜੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਂ ਸਕੂਲ ਦੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕੀ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਉਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਮਝਾਉਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਖਾਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਸਾਲ 2019 ਅਤੇ 2020 ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਵੇਰਵਾ ਹੇਠ ਲਿਖੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਹੈ:

ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀਸਰੋਤ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਆਡੀਓਬੁਕ (ਇੰਡੈਕਸ:ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਕੈਦਾ - ਚਰਨ ਪੁਆਧੀ) ਸੀਬਾ ਸਕੂਲ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ।

ਸਾਲ 2020 ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਕੀਸਰੋਤ ਦੀ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਡੀਓ ਰੂਪ ਦੇਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਲ 2021 ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਕਾਰਜ ਨੂੰ Punjabi Audiobooks Project ਰਾਹੀਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਤੋਰਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸੀਂ (ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੇ) 9 ਆਡੀਓਬੁਕਸ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੱਸ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਲਾਕਡਾਊਨ ਦੇ ਚਲਦਿਆਂ ਕੋਈ ਆਫ਼ਲਾਈਨ ਇਵੈਂਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਤਹਿਤ ਲਾਕਡਾਊਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਆਫ਼ਲਾਈਨ ਇਵੈਂਟ/ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ/ਈ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।

ਅਗਲੀਆਂ ਯੋਜਨਾਵਾਂ

ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ 3 ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ Wiki Education Program ਚਲਾਉਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਵੀ ਹਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਵੇਂ ਦਾਖਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਲਦਿਆਂ ਅਜੇ ਇਸ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਟਾਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੁਝ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਕੂਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ WIR ਵਜੋਂ Wiki Education Program ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ। ਜਿੱਥੇ ਆਡੀਓਬੁਕਸ ਵਰਗੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਚਲਾਏ ਜਾ ਸਕਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਵੇਂ ਵਰਤੋਂਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਮਦ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।

ਇੱਥੇ ਕੁਝ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਗੌਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਕਿ:

  • ਆਡੀਓਬੁਕਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਵਿੱਲਖਣ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਸੀ। ਅਜਿਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਵਿਕੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਦਾ ਵਿਕੀ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਭਿੰਨਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹੁਣ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਾ ਲਿਖਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਆਡੀਓ/ਵੀਡੀਓ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਵਾਲ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਸਮੇਂ ਦਾ ਹਾਣੀ ਵੀ ਹੈ।
  • ਮੈਂ ਆਡੀਓਬੁਕਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਕੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਰੂਪ ਦੀ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਅਹਿਮ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਹੈ। ਲਾਕਡਾਊਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਫ਼ਲਾਈਨ ਇਵੈਂਟ ਦੀ ਜਰੂਰਤ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਜਰੂਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਨੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਲਾਕਡਾਊਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਡੀਓਬੁਕਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਫ਼ਲਾਈਨ ਇਵੈਂਟ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਇਵੈਂਟ ਸਿਰਫ ਇੱਕ ਭਾਈਚਾਰਕ ਮਿਲਣੀ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਸਗੋਂ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਨਵਾਂ ਹੁਨਰ ਸਿਖਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਸੀ।
  • ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੀ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਨਵਾਂ ਹੁਨਰ (voice over) ਸਿੱਖਣ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਹੁਨਰ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਅਨ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਰੇਡੀਓ ਵਿੱਚ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਵੀ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਚੀਜ਼ ਅੱਜ ਤੱਕ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇਖਣ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੀ।
  • ਮੇਰੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਲੰਟੀਅਰ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ ਆਮਦਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਹ ਕਿ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੁਗਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਸਵੈ-ਇੱਛਾ ਨਾਲ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਕੰਮ ਅਤੇ ਭੁਗਤਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਿਆ ਕੰਮ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ।

ਮੁਆਫ਼ੀ, ਜੇਕਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣ-ਬੁੱਝ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦ ਕਰਕੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਸਾਥੀ ਦੇ ਮੌਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਖਲੰਦਾਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ। ਪਰ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਵਜ੍ਹਾ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਆ ਦੀ growth ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਮ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਹਰ ਵਾਰ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਸਾਡੇ user-group ਤੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਇੱਕ ਨਵਾਂ ਸਾਥੀ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਸਾਥੀ ਦਾ ਇੱਕਦਮ ਜਾਣਾ ਠੀਕ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਪਿਛਲੇ ਦੋ ਸਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹਰ ਵਾਰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਕਰਾਰ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਦਿਆਂ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਵੱਲ ਵਧਾਂਗੇ ਤੇ ਤਕਰਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਂਗੇ।

ਖੈਰ, ਮੈਂ ਨਿਤੇਸ਼ (User:Nitesh Gill]], ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ। ਮੇਰੀ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦਗੀ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਕਈ ਕਾਰਨ ਹਨ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੀ ਦੱਸ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਵਿਕੀਮੀਡੀਆ ਸਮਿਟ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵੀ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਰਹਿ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਂ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦਗੀ ’ਚ ਪਾ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ। ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਰੋਨਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਖੜੋਤ ਦੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਬਣਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਈ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਰਸਥਿਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦਿਆਂ ਮੈਂ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਵੀ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਸਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਮੇਰੇ volunteer ਕੰਮ ਦੀ ਲਗਾਤਾਰਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕਈ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ 100 Wikidays ਮੁੰਹਿਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਫਲਤਾਪੂਰਵਕ ਨਿਭਾ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡਿਆ ਦੇ ਲੇਖਾਂ ਲਈ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੀ contact person ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਕੀਪੀਡੀਆ ‘ਤੇ admin ਵੀ ਹਾਂ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ Gill jassu ਵਲੋਂ 100 wikidays ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨਾ, community advocate ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਮਹੀਨਾਵਾਰ ਬੈਠਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਤੇ ਸਮੇਂ-ਸਮੇਂ ‘ਤੇ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ-ਬਾਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ। ਮੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਹਰ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੂਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਤੇ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਲਈ ਲੋੜੀਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਨਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਹੋਣ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ “Wiki Loves Wildflowers”, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਹਦਾਇਤਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਹੋਵੇ, ਚਾਹੇ ਸਮਗਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਜਾਂ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਹੋਵੇ ਜਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਜੈਕਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਹੋਵੇ। ਲਾਕਡਾਉਨ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਸਮਾਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ, ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਤੱਕ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗਤਿਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਚੀ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

The WMF Language team is pleased to let you know that we will like to enable the Section translation tool in Punjabi Wikipedia. For this, our team will love you to read about the tool and test it so you can:

Below is background information about Section translation, why we have chosen your community, and how to test it.

Background information

Content Translation has been a successful tool for editors to create content in their language. More than one million articles have been created across all languages since the tool was released in 2015. The Wikimedia Foundation Language team has improved the translation experience further with the Section Translation. The WMF Language team enabled the early version of the tool in February in Bengali Wikipedia. Through their feedback, the tool was improved and ready for your community to test and help us with feedback to make it better.

Section Translation extends the capabilities of Content Translation to support mobile devices. On mobile, the tool will:

  • Guide you to translate one section at a time in order to expand existing articles or create new ones.
  • Make it easy to transfer knowledge across languages anytime from your mobile device.

Punjabi Wikipedia seems an ideal candidate to enjoy this new tool since data shows significant mobile editing activity.

We plan to enable the tool on Punjabi Wikipedia in the coming weeks if there are no objections from your community. After it is enabled, we’ll monitor the content created with the tool and process all the feedback. In any case, feel free to raise any concerns or questions you may already have in any of the following formats:

Hello Punjabi Wikipedians!

The WMF Language team is pleased to let you know that the Section Translation tool is now enabled in Punjabi Wikipedia. It means you can translate real content one section at a time using your mobile devices with ease.

Now you can also start translating an article on your mobile device when you notice it is missing in Punjabi. From a Wikipedia article in any language, switch languages and search for ਪੰਜਾਬੀ. If the article does not exist, an option to translate it will appear, as shown in the image below.

Extension of Pune Nadi Darshan 2022: A campaign cum photography contest ਸੋਧੋ

Dear Wikimedians,

As you already know, Pune Nadi Darshan is a campaign cum photography contest on Wikimedia Commons organised jointly by Rotary Water Olympiad and CIS-A2K. The contest started on 16 March on the occasion of World Water Week and received a good response from citizens as well as organisations working on river issues.

Taking into consideration the feedback from the volunteers and organisations about extending the deadline of 16 April, the organisers have decided to extend the contest till 16 May 2022. Some leading organisations have also shown interest in donating their archive and need a sufficient time period for the process.

We are still mainly using these topics which are mentioned below.

  • Beauty of rivers in Pune district
  • Flora & fauna of rivers in Pune district
  • Religious & cultural places around rivers in Pune district
  • Human activities at rivers in Pune district
  • Constructions on rivers in Pune district
  • River Pollution in Pune district

The template dialog in VisualEditor and in the 2017 Wikitext Editor (beta) will be improved fundamentally: This should help users understand better what the template expects, how to navigate the template, and how to add parameters.

In syntax highlighting (CodeMirror extension), you can activate a colorblind-friendly color scheme with a user setting.

Deployment is planned for May 10. This is the last set of improvements from WMDE Technical Wishes' focus area “Templates”.

The Movement Strategy and Governance team is looking for community members to serve as election volunteers in the upcoming Board of Trustees election.

The idea of the Election Volunteer Program came up during the 2021 Wikimedia Board of Trustees Election. This program turned out to be successful. With the help of Election Volunteers we were able to increase outreach and participation in the election by 1,753 voters over 2017. Overall turnout was 10.13%, 1.1 percentage points more, and 214 wikis were represented in the election.

There were a total of 74 wikis that did not participate in 2017 that produced voters in the 2021 election. Can you help increase the participation even more?

Election volunteers will help in the following areas:

  • Translate short messages and announce the ongoing election process in community channels
  • Optional: Monitor community channels for community comments and questions

Volunteers should:

  • Maintain the friendly space policy during conversations and events
  • Present the guidelines and voting information to the community in a neutral manner
